Minnesota Unearthed

2 adults working with child looking at rocks in sand.Dig into Minnesota geology and celebrate ancient history through Indigenous perspectives! Throw an atlatl, learn how to make a canoe, and get to know local rocks as you chat with experts from the Minnesota Historical Society’s Jeffers Petroglyphs site and the Minnesota Geological Survey. Expect to leave with a strong foundation of Indigenous history and a head full of rocks – er, rock knowledge!

The Whitney and Elizabeth MacMillan Planetarium will have special showings of Living in Balance: Anishinaabe Star Knowledge, which highlights Anishinaabe stories of constellations and moons in relation to contemporary insights about environmental changes. Produced by Abrams Planetarium and Dr. Beth LaPensée; translated into the Western dialect of Anishinaabemowin by Winonah Ojanen (Aanakwadikwe) and Dennis Jones, narrated by Dennis Jones. *
