Friday | March 20, 2026 | 10:00 am–4:00 pm
Event Navigation
To celebrate Neurodiversity* Celebration Week, we are hosting Flight Camp at the Bell Museum! Flight Camp is a family friendly educational program that encourages curiosity, science and an understanding of neurodivergence.
Learn about the characters of Flight Camp, like Dusty, the Libellulid Dragonfly with ADHD, or Maisey the Monarch, who is also autistic. Paloma Gonzalez-Bellido, the maker of Flight Camp, is a neurobiologist in the department of Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior at the University of Minnesota.
Activities during the week will include coloring pages and insect masks with information on different types of neurodivergence in Collections Cove (March 18-21). On Saturday, March 21, 8 am-2 pm, we will go in depth to learn about insects and neurodiversity in a full demonstration of Flight Camp’s animate world! Use motion capture technology to move like an insect and explore flight with rubber band butterflies!
Can’t get enough? Stop by the Curiosity Shop on your way out for Flight Camp merch.
*Neurodivergence is a term for natural variations in human brains that differ from what’s considered “typical” (neurotypical).
This is an in-person event at the Bell Museum and is included in the cost of regular admission.
