Weird Science: Extreme Life

Halloween with the Bell

From ocean heat vents to sub-zero temperatures, life has adapted to many extreme environments. How do life forms do this and what does it tell us about the search for other life in the universe?

Visit the temporary exhibit Life on the Edge. Explore space with our planetarium show Astrobiology: Are We Alone?  Visit the Touch and See Lab and Collections Cove to view very tiny organisms under extreme magnification, and specimens of creatures that live in extreme environments. Get arty when you craft a UFO flying alien or a resilient tardigrade, and explore our galleries with a weird science quest scavenger hunt!
