Name A Seat
Take your place beneath the stars
Give today to help return a public planetarium to Minnesota—a critical educational resource missing since the closing of the Minnesota Planetarium in 2002.
Our spectacular, 120-seat digital dome planetarium will ignite discoveries for learners of all ages. Visitors will be immersed in 3D visualizations, allowing them to experience up-close the size and scale of objects in our solar system and beyond. Covering more than astronomy, interactive programs will propel visitors into an exploration of the Earth’s water cycle, changing seasons, animal migration, and the human body—even down to the microscopic detail of cells.
Your donation of $2,500 will make an astronomical impact in providing engaging science experiences to generations of learners. Celebrate family, friends, or your passion for science with this meaningful legacy.
The planetarium will feature museum productions with a Minnesota focus and live presentations based on scientific data sets that allow visitors to fly through space. Imagine moving through space and time, flying by celestial bodies in the Milky Way Galaxy, and touching down on the surface of Mars. After this inspiring experience, exploration continues with telescope viewing on the museum’s rooftop observation deck and exhibits taking visitors from the cosmos to Minnesota’s biomes.
Personalize your seat
In recognition of your $2,500 contribution, your name or personal message will be permanently engraved on one of our 120 planetarium seats. You may engrave up to three lines, with up to 18 characters per line including spaces and punctuation on the 1″ x 3″ plaque. The University of Minnesota reserves the right to approve all text prior to production.
