Weather vs. Climate: Beyond Weatherdome

Sit in on a lively discussion of weather, climate, and their impacts in Minnesota presented by climatologist Mark Seeley and meteorologist Paul Huttner.

In addition to being longtime Minnesota Public Radio colleagues, Mark Seeley and Paul Huttner are two of the most knowledgeable and recognizable voices in their fields. Together they will share their insights on warming temperatures, extreme weather events, and possible futures for a changing Minnesota.

The talk will feature stunning visuals on the dome of the Whitney and Elizabeth MacMillan Planetarium. There will be plenty of time for conversation with the audience, so be sure to bring your burning weather and climate questions with you.

About our guests

Known fondly as Minnesota’s weather man, Dr. Mark Seeley spent 40 years as Extension Climatologist and professor in the UMN Department of Soil, Water, and Climate. Mark continues his weekly weather and climate commentary on Minnesota Public Radio’s Morning Edition and serves on the Bell Museum’s Advisory Board. He is also the author of Minnesota Weather Almanac and Voyageur Skies: Weather and the Wilderness in Minnesota’s National Park.

Paul Huttner is chief meteorologist for Minnesota Public Radio and graduate of Macalester College in St. Paul, where he holds a bachelor’s degree in geography with an emphasis in meteorology. He writes the MPR Updraft blog and hosts their weekly Climate Cast program.
