November Star Party: Moon & Beyond
Friday | November 08, 2019 | 7:30 pm–9:00 pm
Tonight’s event is part of our Statewide Star Party, which includes events across Minnesota!
FREE, $5 donation requested
Explore the sky with the Bell Museum. FREE telescope observing nights take place monthly during the University’s Fall and Spring semesters. These are very informal and family-friendly. Events will take place rain, snow or moon-shine. In the case of poor weather, indoor activities will go on. Note: Bell Museum galleries are not open during Star Parties.
Free registration via Eventbrite
Start the night inside the Whitney and Elizabeth MacMillan Planetarium for a brief presentation of Fall Sky Tonight, with special Transit of Mercury content. After the planetarium show, the evening will continue with telescopes on our rooftop observation deck. Bell Museum staff will guide you through observations of the same celestial objects that have inspired sky-gazers throughout history!
Explore the Moon and beyond in our family-friendly science and astronomy challenges. Take one giant leap to see how high you could jump on the Moon, learn how astronomers find ice on other planets, create a scale model of the Earth, and more!
The evening continues outside with telescopes on the Ruth & John Huss Observation Deck. Our astronomy team will guide you through observations of the same celestial objects that have inspired sky-gazers throughout history! Remember to dress for the weather!
Minnesota’s Astronomy Classroom is generously supported by Ruth and John Huss.
