Spotlight Science is a regular program connecting you to current science, conducted at the University of Minnesota and in our community. Join researchers, students, and special guests for conversations and unique interactive experiences.
The Twin Cities Urban Birding Festival returns May 20 to 22, 2022 with a weekend full of fun and educational activities that celebrate the birds that live in Saint Paul and Minneapolis – including here at the Bell Museum!
- Learn more about the birds who call our cities and neighborhoods home
- Explore the connections that Minnesota birds have with the Arctic wilderness
- Meet researchers who use radio telemetry to study migratory birds
- Get involved with research aimed at reducing bird collisions with buildings
- Make and test paper airplanes that model urban birds in the Education Wing
Thanks to special guests: Minnesota Ornithologists’ Union, the Alaska Wilderness League, Stop the Thud/Lights Out for Birds, and MN DNR’s Keeping Up with Kestrels project.
Special Note: In order to protect their education ambassadors, the Raptor Center has temporarily suspended public outreach events due to rising cases of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) and has canceled their appearance at the May Spotlight Science. This is an in-person event at the Bell Museum. Activities and events will be held throughout the museum and are included in the cost of regular admission.
