Museum of the Moon: Bonus Night

Friday | June 07, 2019 | 8:30 pm10:00 pm

Free admission, $5 donation requested

One extra chance to see the Moon at its best!

By popular demand, we are adding one more evening to experience the Museum of the Moon exhibit as the sun sets over Horizon Hall. Don’t miss this last chance to see the Moon in a whole new light—the exhibit closes for good on June 9! Events like this are made possible thanks to your generous support. A suggested donation of $5 per person will help the museum continue to offer incredible experiences like this.

DJ Ali Elabbady (AKA Egypto Knuckles) will be spinning family-friendly space jams throughout the evening. Gear and snacks will be available in the Curiosity Shop.

After you look at the Museum of the Moon, head outside for telescope viewing courtesy of the museum and Minnesota Astronomical Society. Treats from Blue Moo Ice Cream will also be available for purchase.

Note: The museum’s galleries and planetarium will not be open—we’re opening Horizon Hall for the Museum of the Moon only.

Free Shuttle Parking

Take advantage of FREE shuttle parking for this event. Park in the back lot of the Spire Credit Union off of Larpenteur and Prior Aves. The shuttle runs throughout the evening.

Museum of the Moon, by UK artist Luke Jerram, is a seven meter spherical sculpture of Earth’s Moon. This fusion of NASA imagery, simulated moonlight, and surround sound composition is at an approximate scale of 1:500,000, with each centimeter of the internally lit sphere representing five kilometers of the lunar surface.
