Sketch Night favorite, artist Don Colley will be the co-host for the evening and is very interested in documenting the museum from dioramas to backrooms and our transition to the future! The timing couldn't be more fitting—May 19th is the last day of the Minnesota legislative session and by midnight, we will know whether or not the Bell Museum has a new building.
This is an incredible opportunity to get some uninterrupted sketch time in at the Bell as well as a chance to learn about our plans for the future—just how are we going to move the dioramas?! If the Bell does get the funding for the new building this will be the first of several Sketch–a–thons to help document the process of building and moving a museum.
If you plan to spend the night consider it rough camping—bring something comfortable to nap-on, and your own picnic meals. Light snacks will provided, and there will be access to water and restrooms. You must check in at the front desk of the Bell Museum between the hours of 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Monday, May 19. The museum doors will be locked down after that and no entry will be permitted.
If you have questions feel free to contact Jennifer Menken, firstname.lastname@example.org
The Bell Museum invites sketch artists (and budding sketch artists) of all skill levels to get up close with pieces from our collection. Each first Thursday of the month during the academic year, the Bell Museum hosts Sketch Night as part of BIG Thursday programming.
The evening's also include demonstrations from special guest artists. In addition to items representing the monthly theme, participants are welcome to sketch anything else in the museum that intrigues or inspires. Bring your utensils, let the inspiration flow and have fun!
Support for Sketch Night is provided by Wet Paint, an independently owned art supply shop in Saint Paul.
