Andromeda's Treasure 7:15 p.m.
University of Minnesota Astrophysicists are part of a team undertaking one of the most ambitious projects ever done with the Hubble Space Telescope—a survey of our galactic neighbor, Andromeda. Come learn about the latest science results, the history of the galaxy's observations, and how to find Andromeda in the night sky. Support for Andromeda's Treasure (program number HST-EO-12658.11-A) was provided by NASA through a grant from the Space Telescope Science Institute, which is operated by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, Incorporated, under NASA contract NAS5-26555.
Zoom! From Earth to the Edge of the Universe 6:30 p.m., 8 p.m.
The audience decides where to go in this show, from Earth to the edge of the observable universe and anywhere in between. The journey will help visitors appreciate the scale of the solar system, galaxy, and universe; the vast distance separating celestial objects; and how these objects change over time.
