Audubon and the Art of Birds contains a large collection of prints made from the 1500s all the way to the present day. Many different methods were used to make these images. How do you distinguish between a wood-cut and a wood-engraving? How are prints made from copper plates or lithographic stones?
In this discussion Jody Williams will help you distinguish between these printing methods, and show you examples of the different printing plates, blocks and tools.
Jody Williams is a printmaker, book artist and teacher at Minneapolis College of Art & Design and the Minnesota Center for Book Art.
